There are plenty of amazing restaurants in the area that you can try, but her is the short list of our to go to places. Please keep in mind that Dominical / Uvita area is one of the most expensive areas in the country when it comes to food. 

Dominical

Cafe Mono Congo -  a waterfront restaurant, known for its relaxed atmosphere, community-focused vibe, and scenic riverside setting. It offers a diverse menu featuring healthy, fusion, and Costa Rican-inspired dishes, with an emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Best Breakfast, The Best Coffee!

Fuego Brewery- is a popular brewery and bar known for its craft beer, laid-back beach-town atmosphere, and diverse menu featuring Caribbean, Costa Rican, and seafood dishes. It offers a vibrant, fun setting with a treehouse-style design, attracting locals and tourists alike. It is known for its atmosphere, beer quality, and service, not so much for food quality. Best Atmosphere!

Phat Noodle - a Thai and Asian fusion restaurant offering healthy, flavorful dishes with a variety of vegan and vegetarian options. We love it because of its relaxed, cool atmosphere and great food!

Lori Restaurant in Dominical, is a small vegan eatery offering Israeli, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Spanish cuisine made with fresh local ingredients. Great food, relaxed atmosphere!

The Bakery -offering a wide selection of freshly baked goods made with local ingredients. It specializes in both traditional Costa Rican pastries and French-inspired items like croissants, pain au chocolat, and baguettes, while also catering to diverse dietary needs with gluten-free muffins and vegan cupcakes. A very comfortable place to work in case you need to use the Internet.

Scala - offers stunning rainforest views with a curated menu of gourmet international dishes.  Perfect for a serene fine dining experience with breathtaking scenery. Fine dining in the jungle with stunning views. 

La Parcela - is a highly-rated restaurant just outside Dominical, known for its seafood and Costa Rican cuisine. It features a scenic ocean and jungle setting, making it popular for weddings and special occasions. 

Uvita

Indomitos Café & Bar is a highly-rated vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Uvita, specializing in healthy, plant-based cuisine with Costa Rican and South American influences. It is praised for its vibrant ambiance, attentive service, and accommodation of dietary needs, including gluten-free and allergy-sensitive options. ​​​

Mozaic Wine and Sushi Bar - This wine bar, café, and sushi restaurant just outside Uvita has a wonderful, welcoming atmosphere with good food and drinks to match. Mosaic is the best place in town for wine. In their dedicated wine room, you’ll find an assortment of carefully curated bottles from around the world.​​

Sibu Restaurant & Coffee Store offers a diverse menu featuring Costa Rican, organic, international, and healthy cuisine. It also serves breakfast, brunch, craft beers, cocktails, and high-quality coffee, along with pastries and baked goods. The establishment is praised for its delicious food, pleasant ambiance, and friendly service.

Manuel Antonio

El Avion - is a world-famous, must-see restaurant in Manuel Antonio, built around a converted C-123 cargo plane that houses a bar and dining area. Known for its striking aviation theme and open-air setting, it offers panoramic views, especially during sunset. Apparently Costa Ricans have a "thing" for re-purposing old airplanes. If you like the airplane theme, definitely check out El Avion. They are doing it the right way. We love it because of the spectacular views and interesting and unique design, great for taking photos.

Where to buy Groceries
around Dominical

 

The best, cheapest and the healthiest way to eat around Dominical is by cooking at home. Restaurants can be very expensive in the area.

The area between Tinamaste and Uvita is famous for its Organic Marke, called Ferias, where you can buy local, organic produce and souvenirs. 

Here is the schedule for Organic Markets

Tuesdays -     Feria Tinamaste - the biggest and the best market in the area.

Wednesdays  Feria de Emprendedores, Marino Ballena

Fridays -         Eco Feria in Dominical, Domi Plaza, Dominical

Saturday -      Feria de Emprendedores, Marino Ballena 

There are several Fresh Fish Markets in the area where you can get the catch of the day and enjoy the freshest and reasonably priced fish in the privacy of your accommodation.

Check out PESCADERIA BRISAS DEL MAR   you can ask for Dorado (Mahi-Mahi), Atun (Tuna), Corvina (Sea Bass), Pargo (Red Snaper), Camarones (Shrimp), or sometimes even Langosta (Lobster) - a bit more expensive...

Organic Stores, Local Stores

& Supermarkets

 Mama Toucan Natural Market - Organic Store in Dominical, where you can find the best organic produce (NOT CHEAP). Open Daily. We love their Sourdough bread! The best!

BM Supermercados - This is your generic Supermarket if convenience is your top priority. 

Super Dominical - This is a small mini-supermarket where you can find almost everything at a better price. Go there is price is your top priority.
